Husky vs Ruvo

HuskyReceiving USDPJSWIFT

Husky converts your dollars to reais the moment they arrive. Ruvo is a full dollar account you control, with a flat 0.3%, a 0% IOF card, and your own US account details. Here is the difference.

Receive-and-convert vs a dollar account you control

Husky is a business (PJ) receive-and-convert service over SWIFT: every incoming dollar is turned into reais on arrival. It was acquired by Nomad and is being folded in. Ruvo is different, a full dollar account you control. Instead of each dollar being converted automatically, you decide what to do with it: hold it, spend it, send it, or convert it when you choose.

You keep the dollars

The core difference is control:
  • Receiving dollars on Ruvo is free, with instant access.
  • Hold the balance in dollars and convert to reais only when the rate is good, or when you actually need the reais.
  • Spend the dollar balance directly, with no conversion at all.
Husky, by design, turns each dollar into reais as it lands, so the decision is made for you. For the business setup, see how to receive USD as a business.

The fee: 0.3% flat, and why it stays that way

Husky typically charges 1% to 2% on a standard conversion (lower rates tend to be promotional or for specific clients), and, like Ruvo, it does not add IOF. With Ruvo, receiving is free, converting to reais is 0.3% for businesses at the commercial rate, and that 0% IOF also covers the card, where a Brazilian card adds 3.5% IOF plus a 2% to 5% FX markup.

A worked example: US$7,500 a month

Say you invoice US$7,500 a month as a PJ.
  • Spending in dollars: with Ruvo, receiving is free and the card is 0% IOF and 0% spread, so you pay $0. Husky converts every dollar to reais on arrival and has no card.
  • Converting everything to reais: Ruvo at 0.3% is about $22.50/month ($270/year); Husky's standard 1% to 2% is about $75 to $150/month ($900 to $1,800/year). That is roughly $630 to $1,530 saved per year, with the dollars you spend on the card free on top.

Where the real savings are: the card

The conversion fee is often the smallest part of the math. Ruvo gives you a dollar card with 0% IOF: spend directly on ads, US tools and subscriptions, and travel. A normal Brazilian card adds 3.5% IOF plus a 2% to 5% FX markup to all of that; with Ruvo it is zero. For many people, that single difference saves far more than any conversion-fee gap, and Husky has no card at all. See the full international card fees.

A real US account, and sending money your way

Ruvo gives you your own US account details, a routing number and account number, to receive ACH, wire and direct deposits. It looks professional to US clients and employers, and it is a fully functional US account, not just an IBAN key. And you can send to anyone, however you want:
  • Pay yourself, friends, family or suppliers.
  • By Pix, ACH, RTP (instant), wire, or crypto.
Husky receives over SWIFT and converts; it does not hand you a US account or let you send freely.

Ruvo also covers your personal side

Husky is business-only. Ruvo covers both your company and you personally in one place:
  • Open a personal (PF) account alongside your business (PJ) one.
  • Free transfers between your PJ and PF accounts.
  • Personal accounts earn yield on your dollar balance, with equity investing being added on top.
A business-only service leaves your personal dollars somewhere else; Ruvo keeps them together.

A note on fees

With the Husky and Nomad integration underway, products and fees may change. Data is from mid-2026; confirm on official channels before deciding.

  • Husky is a receive-and-convert service: it receives your dollars over SWIFT and converts them to reais on arrival. It was acquired by Nomad and is being integrated.

  • No, Husky converts incoming dollars to reais automatically. Ruvo lets you hold a dollar balance and convert only when you choose, or spend the dollars directly.

  • Yes. Ruvo's 0.3% is a flat rate, published on our site with no promo and no fine print. Husky's low rate tends to be temporary or conditional, partly because it settles over SWIFT, which is more expensive; its standard conversion usually runs 1% to 2%.

  • Often the card, not the conversion fee. Ruvo's dollar card has 0% IOF, while a Brazilian card adds 3.5% IOF plus a 2% to 5% FX markup on dollar spend. For frequent dollar spenders that saves far more than any conversion-fee difference. Husky has no card.
